They have done work for me in the past and it has always been good working with them.Posted on Matt AmmentorpTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have a Cummins emergency generator that's been in service for 12 years and twice over the past year has required on site repairs. My local electrician recommended contacting Meyers, and when I did they promptly responded in were at our home the next day. (We're over an hour from Rice Lake....) Austin is the technician that showed up to do the work, and in both cases he quickly discovered the issues and replaced failed parts to get us up and running again. On the second call, he suggested he could take the broken part to a local welder to repair, rather than pay over $1000 for a replacement component from Cummins. It took a few days to get that repair done, but I can only imagine what the bill would have been if I would called our Cummins service from Duluth! Meyers is a class act, and I very much appreciate Jake and Austin and the rest of the Meyers Electric crew.Posted on Shana FraserTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Reliable, honest and dependable! Great timely service technicians and electricians, and sweet office staff that always helps to find a solution to the problem.Posted on Michael UmhoeferTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Wow, I had three small electrical projects I wanted quotes for. They grouped them together in one quote the first time, then three weeks later they sent a refined quote separating parts and labor. All I wanted was quotes for the three projects but the office manager refused to pass on the message and instead wanted me to again speak with someone from the field, which I have already done. She repeatedly said it was too complicated... one project was to replace two dimmer switches, the other project is to replace two bathroom exhaust fans, the third is to run electricity down a hill to have an outlet 30 yards from the home. Yeah, I guess they are too complicated.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does a residential electrician do?
A residential electrician specializes in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in homes. This includes wiring, outlets, lighting, circuit breakers, panel upgrades, and safety inspections. At Meyers Electric, our licensed electricians ensure your home’s electrical system is safe, efficient, and fully code-compliant.
Are your electricians licensed and insured in Wisconsin?
Yes. All of our residential electricians are fully licensed and insured in the state of Wisconsin. We follow all NEC (National Electrical Code) standards and state/local building codes to ensure safe, compliant installations and repairs.
How much does it cost to hire a residential electrician?
The cost of hiring a residential electrical contractor depends on the complexity of the job, the parts required, and the time involved. Meyers Electric offers upfront, transparent pricing with free estimates, so you always know what to expect,t no hidden fees.
What are the signs my home needs an electrical panel upgrade?
If your home has frequent power outages, flickering lights, or cannot support modern appliances and EV chargers, it may be time for a panel upgrade. Our electricians assess your current system and safely upgrade your panel for better performance and protection.
Why do my lights flicker when I use appliances?
Flickering lights can signal voltage fluctuations caused by outdated wiring, overloaded circuits, or a failing panel. Appliances like microwaves or space heaters draw high power if your system isn’t sized properly, it can cause instability. Our residential electricians can assess and stabilize your home’s electrical load for consistent performance.
Why does my circuit breaker keep tripping?
Repeated tripping is often a sign of an overloaded circuit, a short circuit, or a ground fault. It could also mean your panel is outdated and not equipped to handle today’s energy demands. We provide full diagnostics and panel upgrades to restore safety and reliability.
Are extension cords safe to use long-term?
No. Using extension cords as a permanent solution is a fire hazard and violates electrical codes. If you find yourself relying on them, it’s time to install more outlets or dedicated circuits. Our team can add safe, code-compliant wiring where you need it most.
Why do some of my outlets feel warm or stop working?
Warm or non-functional outlets may indicate loose wiring, aging components, or overloaded circuits. These are serious warning signs of potential electrical fires. Our licensed electricians will replace or repair the faulty components and ensure safe, grounded power.
Is it safe to upgrade my electrical panel myself?
No. Electrical panels involve high-voltage connections and improper work can lead to electrocution or fire. Only a licensed residential electrical contractor should perform panel upgrades. We ensure safe, code-compliant installations that pass inspection the first time.
Can I install a ceiling fan or light fixture myself?
While some homeowners attempt DIY installs, incorrect wiring can lead to short circuits, loose connections, or fire risks. Let our team handle it safely and neatly, especially for heavy or high-mounted fixtures that require proper bracing and grounding.
My home loses power during storms can that be fixed?
Yes. If your home frequently loses power during storms, you likely need a standby generator or improvements to your service line. We install Cummins generators and surge protection systems to keep your power on and protect sensitive electronics.
Do I need to update my wiring if I’m remodeling?
Yes. Building codes often require that older wiring be replaced during major remodels. It’s also an ideal time to improve safety, efficiency, and future-proof your home. We work directly with contractors to ensure your electrical system is ready for any project.
How do I know if my home's electrical system is up to code?
If your home is 20+ years old or has had DIY work done, it’s wise to schedule an electrical inspection. Our electricians will identify any code violations, outdated materials, or safety issues and provide a clear plan to bring everything up to standard.
